Interesting it's like math and Shakespeare, you add them together and that's how you decide what pencil to use. I myself just grab a no.2 pencil with my "happy cat" pencil eraser perched on top.

A very informative brush article. I had know idea what oil painters used. I myself a watercolor/mixed media artist prefer synthetic to natural brushes. But yes you are right about there really isn't anything like a good natural brush. My favorite natural brushes are the black squirrel brushes by Isabey. My favorite synthetic brushes are the Loew-Cornell 7020 Ultra rounds. Love those! Carry on and happy painting!
